Video Game History Theories

Video games have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Although my primary interest growing up were mainstream, unlike my peers I was interested in classic gaming as well. This may have started when I played the first video game I ever laid my hands on, which was Super Mario Bros. for the NES due to my parents having the system in the house. Later on my parents bought me a Game Boy Color, and the included game was none other than Super Mario Bros. DX, the remake of Super Mario Bros. Thus the link to the past was born, and I began reliving the levels I played when I was little.

When I entered my teenage years, everyone around me was changing and it was a struggle for me to fit in. So I decided to pursue my interest in classic gaming further, and took to the Internet. This happened just as YouTube was starting to pick up popularity, and I started watching as many classic video game documentaries and reviews as I could. This led me to even start my own YouTube channel where I talked about classic and new video games alike.

Through all my experience in learning about gaming history, one of the main things I learned was that the present world of video games that we have today has been very much shaped by crucial events in the history of their evolution. What I want to accomplish in this blog is to not only explore these events and showcase how they have impacted the industry today, but also theorize how gaming may be different today if things had gone another way. It's sure to be an exhilarating journey, and I hope you'll join me as we delve deep into some of the most interesting topics of video game history.
